Mission Statement
We change lives. We provide life-changing experiences, strength and tools to live and to recover for seriously ill children and their families. All of these are free. We believe that the sun always shines above the clouds.
Our camp is not a summer camp in the classical meaning of the term. We place children outside of their comfort zones through special experiences. By overcoming their fears, they recognise their readiness to confront not only the challenges involved in their adventures, but also their illness. We put smiles on their faces; we give them power for their struggle.
Therapeutic Recreation
Bátor Tábor returns cancer-afflicted and chronically ill children to their carefree childhoods. Our camp is not a summer camp in the classical meaning of the term. We place children outside of their comfort zones through special experiences. By overcoming their fears, they can recognise that they are ready to confront not only the challenges involved in their adventures, but also their illness. We put smiles on their faces; we give them power for their struggle. We change lives.
We started long time ago
Paul Newman, the world-famous actor believed that after difficult treatment in a hospital, children could be rehabilitated the most successfully with smile, amusement and adventures. Paul Newman established a camp in the American state of Connecticut in 1988, and it became the basis for the SeriousFun Children’s Network, which we have been members of since 2007. With the method we use today children are recovering from 40 illness groups in 32 countries. While the professional background of our work comes from the United States, the free camping for children is funded by corporate and individual donations.
